By posting the information we have, we gain a bit of hope that someone will connect with one of these ancestors...and by doing so be able to help us count or discount these people as our own possible ancestors. I would love nothing more than to find a connection between Ellis R. Campbell b 1756 in NJ and Ellis Campbell b 1804 in VA.. If anything, Ellis b 1804 would be a great nephew or grandson. As I go along I will get to Ellis R., who was a son of the already mentioned Dugald & Sarah Bloomfield Campbell family from Somerset/Middlesex counties in NJ. Dear Readers, I have forwarded an email which was posted on another list, which is talking directly about the Revolutionary War, at Guilford Courthouse, NC. This is the Battle which John Campbell, s/o George and Caty Campbell, of Amherst Co VA participated in. I thought this information would be interesting. Especially the fact that the place name changed, it was first called Guilford Courthouse, but then changed to Greensboro, NC. If you were looking on a map, this would be good to know! John Campbell's son named George Washington Campbell went by the nickname of "Guilford". Best regards, Lilly Martin > If anyone is interested in Revolutionary War history in the Carolina's > there > is an excellent book to read by John Buchanan called the "Road to Guilford > Courthouse" which includes the battles in the Carolina's. > > It is an excellent book to read and is a great resource book. In going through some of the paperwork I had saved over the years, I found the following on NJ Campbell's: NOTE that there may be several different John Campbell's here, two for sure have been comingled over the years. Also, this information was sent to me prior to 1999 by a person on the Prodigy network. Most of the information seems to be from Rutger College in NJ. If anyone can add to this information, would appreciate it. Will try to keep alphabetically by first name of the Main Campbell in each record. The handwriting is hard to read, as the person was in a hurry and all records had to be copied by handwriting the information. I'll do my best to read it, but if I am unsure you will see "?" at end of word(s) in question.
