    3. CZ AT; Oh yes I understand, but if we don't restrict the data base to a reasonable number, it will be like opening up one of those "immigrant books" that has 50,000 names, all the information that interest you, but none of the information that satisfies you. A data base that can be manageable. I would think that all Campbell's that can trace their heritage back to Amherst County, will take the road that leads to one of the 6 Campbell's I mentioned. They all arrived in what is Amherst County to about mid 1750 of before. 3. I would think that we would only need to identify the first generation of Campbell's to enter Amherst/Albemarle/Goochland and not have to worry about their off springs. 1. Database for George Campbell Information
    2. I was thinking about mainly "Georges" from pre-1800. I think it would be safe to take all the "Georges" from Pennsylvania to South Carolina. I know we have 3 immigration records into VA and MD from before 1800 on "Georges" (1742, 1744, and another year). Two wills (1776 and 1791). And a will of a Gilbert Campbell that mentions an infant George. There were no adult George Campbells in Virginia in 1704, according to the tithable tables. This should be able to narrow our focus. Anyone have any ideas on how we can post this George information in an organized way?

    2. I think we should create a database of all information everyone has on "George Campbells" in the U.S. prior to 1800. We can get all the info together in one place and perhaps separate them out one by one. There doesn't appear to be that many "Georges"-- I know we have a couple in Augusta Co., VA; 2 in Amherst Co., VA; and another somewhere by the James Fork in VA. If everyone concentrates their efforts on identifying the various Georges, we should be able to identify who is who. So far, there have only been 3 records of a George Campbell entering the VA/SC/MD area in the 1700's. Anyone willing to work on something like this?

    3. Have gone to the various sites suggested from other forum members to find Campbell ancestry from Scotland. The sites only list to Duncan Campbell and Jean Colquhoun's children. One child is my ancestor Archibald Campbell 1629-1664. From there marriages and births do not make sense (such as his marriage in 1628 which is before he was born and first child born a few years later). All of this seems to be copied from other sites such as the LDS site. Thus the need I have to find someone who may have the correct descendants of Duncan and Jean. Will still try the gent you mentioned who specializes in Scotish ancestry, if I can find him on the net. Thanks for your suggestions. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lilly Martin" <malik@scs-net.org> To: <CAMPBELL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, October 26, 2005 11:36 AM Subject: Re: [CAMPBELL] Charles Campbell > To both Sandy Harris, and Cecil Campbell, > I am VERY interested in this line of questioning, have your found any > answers yet? 1. The history of the John Benjamin Campbell and Margaret Sinclair Campbell family of Islay, Scotland
    2. J Lorne Campbell
    3. I am very interested in locating a copy of the above history, written and published in 1983 by Jack Hicks Campbell. The couple's gravestone in Boston Mills Cemetery, Chinguacousy Twp, Peel Co, ON, Canada reads John Campbell died Aug 9, 1884 aged 77 years; Margaret Sinclair his wife died Jan 15, 1892 aged 82 years. Has anyone seen a copy of the history? Thank you. Lorne
