    3. Ellen, I am not sure if this Mary is Polly or not. I have only a very few documents with her name mentioned. John died sometime around 1810 because they start disposing of land where it mentions some of the children's names. I don't have a clue what happened to Mary after this. I have not been able to find her in the 1820 census or connect her to a possible son (of whom I know a name) or daughter she could possibly be living with. I know very little about John but will share with you if you want further information. Looking forward to hearing from you again. What other Campbell names or in your family? Maybe we can make some kind of connection Martha ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ellen Hodge" <magnoliaeast@rocketmail.com> To: <CAMPBELL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 10, 2006 2:51 PM Subject: Re: [CAMPBELL] Campbell Family in Laurens Co., SC > Martha, I too am looking at the Campbells from Laurens, SC. 2. I am wondering if you might be able to tell me where your John went after 1810. My gggg grandfather was somewhere in SC until around 1810, or so census shows my ggg grand uncle to be born there. I believe he was in TN for a short time because census rolls show my ggg grandfather being born there in 1814. The family wound up in Randolph Co., IL. I know this is a longshot, I do not know my Johns first wife name for sure, but I believe it to be Mary. His second wife was Rebecca Allred - my grandmother. Thank You, David Campbell

    3. If all else fails, I will retreat up the valley of Virginia, plant my flag on the Blue Ridge, rally around the Scotch-Irish (Ulster Scots) of that region and make my last stand for liberty amongst a people who will never submit to British tyranny whilst there is a man left to draw a trigger. George Washington, Valley Forge. "Call this war what you may, only call it not an American rebellion; it is nothing more or less than a Scotch Irish Presbyterian rebellion." Anonymous Hessian officer 1778 Every line of strength in American history is a line colored with Scottish blood. President Woodrow Wilson "For that is the mark of the Scots of all classes: that he stands in an attitude towards the past unthinkable to Englishmen, and remembers and cherishes the memory of his forebears, good or bad; and there burns alive in him a sense of identity with the dead even to the twentieth generation." Robert Louis Steveson ~ Weir of Hermiston, 1894 I know that this is a genealogy forum but most of Campbell's are either Scottish or Ulster Scots and thought I would throw a few interesting quotes out there. If you have any of this sort please send them to me. I know that everything on this list is not genealogical and I like that, by the way I miss Dairmid a lot. Here is my question, looking at the last quote by Steveson, there seems to be a call to my blood, my family ,90 % of it, has been in the Colonies and or the States for 250 - 350 years now, and so there is no direct tie back to Scotland. Yet there is a calling to my blood for which I do not understand, I was wondering if this makes sense to any of you Scots. I have 5 Scottish or Ulster Scots line running through me and as I said there is a calling and a yearning for most of my adult life. Regards, Richard C. Mick
