    1. Wm. Floyd CAMPBELL, b. 1876, Caroline, VA
    2. Hello All, I am trying to identify the maternal grandparents of William Floyd CAMPBELL, b. Caroline County, VA, 1876. His parents were Robert L. Campbell—son of Cornelius Sale Campbell and Emily DULANEY—and Fannie S. <Unk>. William Floyd Campbell married Bettie S. CARNEAL in 1900 in Caroline County. They had at least 3 children, all b. in Caroline County: Pearl M. (b. 1901), Thomas F. (b. 1903), and Esther E. (b. 1908). As best I can determine, Robert L. and Fannie S. were not married in Caroline County. (I have been through the Caroline marriage records at the Heritage Center in Fredericksburg.) Any help identifying the parents of Fannie S. Campbell will be greatly appreciated. Rand Costich Rockville, MD

    2. HOWDY CUZ, I know what that you are saying is what others have said, That My Fourth Great Grand Mother, Frances, <Wright> SAID that they were Married in Amherst County, Va. in 1779. NOW I am not Contradicting Grand Ma. What I said WAS that No record of John & Frances Having been Married Found in the Amherst County Marriage Records that are On Reel # 37, <Amherst County Marriage Records that is in the Va. State Library Here in Richmond Va. I have a Copy of Marriage records Of York County Va, Marriages Showing that one John Campbell & Elizabeth Wright Were Married in York County in 1787 & another Record showing one John Campbell & Elizabeth Wright as Having gotten Married in 1779. But more than one Researcher have Stated that they have NOT found a Record in Amherst County of This Marriage. Only Grt Grand Ma's Word on her Application For a REV. WAR Pension. Seems that Satisfied the Government, AS I am Satisfied that Grt Grand PA John Campbell DID IN FACT marry Frances Wright. I am only saying what researchers are saying that No one has found a Marriage for John Campbell & Frances, <WRIGHT> in Amherst County Records. I see much ABT her Pension Application. I need some further explanation here. You have a land record for a George Campbell in New Kent Co.? What year? And how do you know it's our George Campbell? Can I somehow see these documents you're referring to? This is the first time I've heard anyone mention this information. 3. It's only $10 to get the DAR information. Is it not possible to send and get more than one. Such as the most current and then the next, etc. So as you go backwards from the DAR documentation you would learn who was who. I recently got my documentation from DAR and it was absolutely no help as I still have to trace back 6 generations to even connect with the person in the documentation. However when I called the DAR I was informed to get the most recent application. I'm sure that you could get every application to that particular Patriot that you wanted if you sent them enough money. Give them a call and see. The DAR phone # if I'm not mistaken is on the website. Cathy Pierce margecam52 <margecam52@valornet.com> wrote: There are several other DAR Applications using Ellis R Campbell as the patriot. 3. I am deep into the Campbells of the middle ages. I have Mary MacLeod (McLea?) 1552-1602 married to Duncan Campbell 1511 and killed with his father at the Battle of Glenlivet. Duncan was the Fifth Duke of Argyll. I do see the possible name again...a John MacLean (McLea?) 1601 married to Florence Campbell 1603, daughter of Dugald Campbell, Sixth Duke of Argyll 1576-1641. Again...Janet McLeod (McLea?) married to James Campbell, Fifth Baronet of Auchinbreck 16-- - 1756 (dates for this latter a mess...have been trying to find correct dates at this site without luck...no one seems to be working on the Campbells this far back). 3. #1. Francis Wright b. about 1708 Westmoreland Co VA, he married Mary Hawkins. They raised a family and settled in Amherst Co VA. Their descendants married many times into the Campbell family in Amherst Co VA. #2. Lt. Col. Richard Campbell b. about 1730-45 VA, married Rebecca Hawkins, sister of Betsey Hawkins, aka Mrs. John Sevier (is this the same man who was 1st Gov. of TN?) Benjamin Hawkins is probably related to Rebecca and Betsey, prehaps as brother. Could Mary, Betsey, Benjamin and Betsey all be from the same Hawkins family of Central VA.? Best regards, Lilly Martin

In tract or share of Clary Clampbell - legatee of Jno Campbell. : John Marr; ;Henry Rose; Peggy Campbell's lot. ********************************************************************************* I will try to make an analysis of these 2 Deeds above. Let me identify who these people are, and their various relationships to each other, and to other Campbell families in the area. 1. William Campbell, he is married to Elizabeth. (He is the brother to John Campbell, the Wagoneer, who is dead prior to 1806, I do not know the father of this John and William Campbell) 2. Jacob Puckett, Jr. (he is married to Elizabeth Campbell, who was the daughter of John Campbell, the Wagoneer) 3. John Campbell, married to Polly Campbell ( this John is b. 1774 d. 1-9-1859 Scott Co VA, s/o George Campbell (m. Elizabeth), s/o George Campbell and Caty of Amherst Co VA. His wife Polly Campbell is d/o John Campbell, the Wagoneer. A descendant has the marriage record which states Polly Campbell is d/o John) 4. Clary Campbell (this could be a mis-spell for Cary, which is a MALE name, or could be a nickname for "Clarinda". This person named Clary Campbell is an HEIR of John Campbell, the Wagoneer, so either he is a SON, or is a WIFE, most likely. 5. Peggy Campbell (the lot's is identified as Peggy's lot, so we assume this means ownership. Peggy is a nickname for Margaret. Is Peggy the widow of John Campbell, the Wagoneer? Or is she a daughter of John?) Sorry, this analysis is pretty sketchy and weak, but maybe we can work to further identify these people. Best regards, Lilly Martin
