Folks, Here's the Thomas Campbell I'm looking for more information about. Thomas Campbell who was enumerated in Abbeville County, South Carolina in the 1830 and 1840 censuses _may_ have been the Thomas Campbell enumerated in 1800, 1810, and 1820 censuses in Laurens County, South Carolina. This Thomas Campbell would have been born circa 1770-1780, based on his ages in the census records: 1830 (age 50-60)and 1840 (age 60-70). Thomas Campbell _may_ have been related to my husband's 2nd-great-grandfather, Matthew Campbell, as Mat Campbell was enumerated in the next household after Thos Campbell in the 1840 census for Abbeville County. Matthew Campbell was in Coweta County, Georgia for the 1850 census and died in Carroll County, Georgia in 1887. I believe Matthew Campbell was born circa 1812 in South Carolina and married Rebecca Edwards, daughter of David Edwards, of Abbeville County, per an Abbeville County Equity Court case. Anyone researching this Thomas Campbell, let's share information! Judy Campbell still hopeful after all these years :-)

I am looking for information about Thomas CAMPBELL who states (in his Revolutionary War Pension Application #S8169) he was born 1760 in Mecklenburg Co state of North Carolina and that this record appears in his family Bible. He adds that he was living in the county of Mecklenburg, now Cabarrus, when he was called into service and that he lived for thirty years in the state of Tennessee and now is back in the county of Cabarrus on the 16th of October 1832. I need to track down any record's of wills, deeds, etc. for this Thomas CAMPBELL and also need to know if he was married, names of children, etc. This Thomas CAMPBELL died 31 March 1833. I believe this Thomas CAMPBELL lived in and around the Montgomery County, Tennessee area during those 30 years he mentioned in his pension file. I find a Thomas CAMPBELL there who received a Rev. War grant for land and he is joined with a Thomas HUNTER from North Carolina and an Arthur TYNOR - all are from the same area of NC. Any and all help would be GREATLY appreciated! As several of you are talking about Tennessee/Mississippi Campbell's perhaps someone might be able to help me. I have lots of questions! Louisa Lusk(?) was born about 1821 maybe in Virginia - said she was part Cherokee. Probably died about the time of the Civil War, which she kept telling her children there was going to be a war soon. Louisa and children all used the last name Campbell - have found no husband listed in any records. Children all born in Tennessee, probably Coffee County or surrounding county areas. Caroline Lavina born 1838/1839 Byron Hill (Doc) born 1841 Jefferson Dewitt born 1849/50 (left for west, Arkansas/Oklahoma in about 1880) James Theodore born 1851 Sara Florence born 1856 The story has been passed down that the father of the children was Gentile Brawly or something like it. He was from Mississippi, grew crops in Hillsboro, Tennessee area, and traded slaves in New York. The grandchildren said he was a mean man. Questions: Was Louisa married to a Campbell and continued to use the name? Were there more children between Byron and Jefferson who died? These are the children we know reached adulthood and no mention of other children by them. Was Gentile's last name Campbell? Was this really his name? Can anyone tell me anything about Campbellville, Mississippi? What date it was established and what Campbell families might have lived in the area. Any of those families with any names to connect to this story? You would certainly make a great- grandma in sneakers happy if you can help me out! Sue Mardres In Maryland

Thomas is like so many of the other Campbell names we have been working through such as George and John. Any information to help us look for your specific Thomas would help.
