Listers may be interested in the current project to restore the burial place of the Campbells at Argyll Mausoleum in Kilmun and provide simple visitor facilities. The work has started and the opening will be summer 2014, when visitors will be able to visit the mausoleum. Argyll Mausoleum Limited (AML) was formed as a charitable company limited by guarantee to carry out the task and we were fortunate to secure almost £1 million of funding. There is still much fundraising to do and any support will be very welcome. As part of the project all the gravestones in the three sections of the churchyard have been photographed to complement the work in transcribing carried out some years ago by Jean Maskell which is available from the Scottish Genealogical Soc. .A general site history is also being compiled. The website Argyll Mausoleum Ltd has more detail. Enjoy! Ann Galliard

The three brothers story is also my family story, but I hear it is a common one. Our story is that three brothers left the North of Ireland for America. My ancestor needed a wife, so they stopped off in Scotland to pick up a wife for him. A cousin said that he married a German girl instead. I never heard anything about Benjamin Franklin or a year. I heard that one stayed in New York where they landed, one went to Pennsylvania, and my relative, or his descendant, eventually ended up in Indiana on the Wabash River. But it is likely it was a son or grandson who went to Indiana, if they did indeed go to Indiana. Or he could have gone to what became Indiana. My brothers tested on FTDNA and are shown as descendants of Wylie or Wiley Campbell. They are a 64/67 match with Duncan, but his family tree is my mother's Campbells. So my Campbells must connect at some point. They are a closer match to White David/John Campbell (Grace Hay), and a close match to Kevin Campbell.
