These families migrated from Dunrossness, Shetland Islands (Scotland) circa 1870s to the Monterey area. Mary Ollason married Thomas Harper and had a son reportedly the first "white child" born in Pacific Grove. Some Harpers reportedly owned a Gasoline Station on the Monterey-Carmel Road in the 1940s. There were other family connections in Santa Cruz County with these families. Any information would be appreciated. Will be glad to share information I have. I also have some links to Shetland.
