    3. Peter: It might be worth the time to check the Great Registers for Monterey County for the time period prior to 1900. Only men will show, but it might prove where the known people were living during the 20 years between 1880 and 1900. If you can find Rosa's first husband's name, you might try the 1880 soundex for CA and see if you can locate them. She would have been only 29 in 1880 and might well have had small enough children to be listed. You'll have to find out her previous married name. Could check the Monterey County marriage records for appropriate time frame for her second marriage and see if there is a record of the second marriage, to Mr. WHITE which would show her first husband's name as her name.
