I just wonder if it is possible that Carmel CASTRO might be Rosa WHITE's daughter by her first husband. The 1900 census should show how long the various couples were married and how many children borne by the women and how many are alive at time of census. If you just looked at soundex entry, you would not have found this information. One of the possibilites might be that she would show as a daughter or step daughter to the head of hte household. I would guess that it's possible but unlikely that Carmel's husband John was Rosa WHITE's son by her previous marriage although the age difference is not as great as I would prefer. With the marriage information one could possibly zero in on the era of the current marriage. Supposedly the 1910 census would let one know what # marriage the current one listed is. There is a column to input marital status (M) and then hopefully there may be a number that indicates which marriage is involved (M1 or M2, etc.). I'll have to check at our local FHC and see what CA records are available, permanent loan, for Monterey County. I seem to recall the existence of a marriage record for pre-1905 on LDS microfilm, but not sure it's here (The Dalles, OR). If time permits, I'll check into this next time I work. Know that I checked the 1900 or 1910 census for Monterey County, but it was only on temporary loan and was supposed to go back 12-10-98.
