The Church Headquarters, in Salt Lake City, have finally made the first OFFICIAL announcement about the FamilySearch® Internet Genealogy Service. There has been much speculation & many erronious posts to various places on the Internet about this but now you can read the OFFICIAL announcement on the Church website. This announcement can be viewed at http://lds.org/en/4_News_Update/19990304_FIGS.html . To verify it is an offical LDS website announcement, choose any of the choices from the task bar shown & you can get back to the homepage. There is also a logo displayed with the Church name visible. Memos to Family History Center Directors were sent out about a month ago so we did not know "officially" about this until then either.
