Schrier <hschrier@gte.net> To: Armstrong name list Seeking news of family of John Graham Armstrong, 1834 - 1904, and Christina Smith, to fill in blanks in 200th anniversary edition of family tree. John Graham Armstrong was a son of my great great great aunt, Isabella Coulter, 1798 - 1879, and John Armstrong, 1797 - 1864. John Graham Armstrong, b. 1 February 1834, Bovina, Delaware County, NY, wed Christina Smith, in Delhi, Delaware County, NY, on 26 December 1861. John G. died 5 March 1904 in Salinas, CA. John G. is reportedly buried in Salinas. John and his family went to California by boat (at least part way) in 1868. John G. and Christina had five children: 1. John Archibald Armstrong, b. 27 February 1863, Bovina, Delaware County, NY, wed Susan M. Irvine, b. El Dorado, CA, in Chicago, IL. on 5 August 1883. They had three sons. James Irvine Armstrong, b. 3 October 1894. John McCalla Armstrong, b. 25 february 1896. Samuel Maitland Armstrong, b. 29 May 1906. 2. Edwin Alexander Armstrong, b. 18 November 1866, Delhi, Delaware County, NY, wed Lottie T. Clark, 16 September 1903, in Salinas, CA. Edwin A. died 30 January 1909 in Salinas. Edwin A. and Lottie had twin girls, Lois Christina and Ruth Margaret, b. 26 September 1904. 3. Ellen Elizabeth Armstron, who apparently did not marry. 4. Robert Smith Armstrong, b. 13 August 1865 in Delaware County, NY, d. 20 April 1868 at sea, on the voyage to California, at Latitude 20 degrees 20 minutes North, Longitude 74 degrees 20 minutes West. He was buried at sea. 5. Tinabell Armstrong, b. 17 August 1869 in California, d. 11 November 1869 in California. If any of this sounds familiar, please contact me at <hschrier@gte.net>
