May 4, 1857 d. April 15, 1919 Monterey County) Family History Center, Seaside, CA Microfilm FCA 15 Mission San Carlos Marriages Roughly translated it states.. Anto Silva Prera with Narcisa Cordero/ .. On December 1868...in the town in this church Anto Silva Prera ...30 years old son of Anto Prera Silva y de Ma de Jesus Silva of Portugal and Narcisa Cordero, 25 years of age, daughter of Matias Cordero Y Ma Ygnacia Suniga. Witnesses were Gonzales Manuel de Silva Y Ma Madalena Silva. A D Casanova (priest) At Salinas, CA Monterey Courthouse, the Marriage Index (an old book) lists..December 15, 1868 Monterey, Silva Antonia 29 Western Islands, Cordero Narcisa , Monterey, 25, CA Priest Casanova I believe this Antonio Silva and Narcisa Cordero later changed the family name to Parara. This was not an uncommon practice for people of that time to change names. Prera Silva may have changed to Silva and then to Parara. A name change could occur to avoid confusion with other relatives who share the same name. Antonio and Narcisa are listed in the Monterey, Monterey Co 1880, 1890 censuses as Silva. The death records for Narcisa, Antonio and their children are listed as Parara.
