Hi Kim, This is a long shot, but you may get a lead by contacting the following: Stanton Maritime Museum of Monterey Monterey History & Art Association 5 Custom House Plaza Monterey, CA 93940 Mon-Fri, 9-5 1-831-372-2608 Basically they are two different organizations, the Monterey History & Art Assoc. and the Stanton Maritime Museum, but the MH&AA is the umbrella of the Stanton Museum. I would suggest personally contacting the curator of the Stanton Museum with your request. The reason I am suggesting this lead is that the focus of the museum is the commercial maritime history of Monterey Bay. Additionally, the original fennel light from the Point Sur lighthouse is on display in the entry to the museum. There is also a very active group of volunteers involved in restoring the Point Sur Lighthouse. [Ask the Stanton people for a referral.] I'm surprised that the Pacific Grove history group were not of more help. The first lady lighthouse keeper of Pt. Pinos is very well documented. Her logs have been published. She was one of the founders of the Monterey County Chapter of the American Red Cross in 1898. Another long shot lead is the State of California Parks & Recreation Dept. They are responsible for Point Sur Historic Park - Lighthouse. The telephone number for "Other Business" is 1-831-667-2315. Just in case you haven't tried this one yet: City of Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History Forest Ave. & Central Ave. Pacific Grove, CA 93950 Admin. Offices: 1-831-648-3116 Lighthouse - Point Pinos 1-831-648-3116 Always ask to speak to the "curator", "museum director", or a "long time" docent/volunteer. Since you are within driving distance, I would also suggest personally visiting the above mentioned facilities. Unfortunately the most knowledgeable people usually only work on weekdays. Hope this helps, Anita C. Monterey County kim wrote: > > Hi Monterey County Listers, > I am trying to find the lighthouse keeper's log for Pt. Pinos lighthouse in > 1870.
