    3. Hi Everyone, For those interested in the history of Southern Monterey County and Northern San Luis Obispo County, there is a very interesting book: "The Lands of Mission San Miguel" by Wallace V. Ohles, published by Word Dancer Press, copyright 1997. ISBN 1-884995-13-6. This book is full of information about specific families in the area and has a nice thorough index. It covers the area from King City in Monterey County to Templeton in San Luis Obispo County. Lots of old photos, family genealogies, family stories, etc. It's a 335-page softcover 8-1/2" x 11" book. I'm willing to check the index for surname references, but if the information is lengthy, I'll recommend purchasing the book. ---------------------------------------------- Another interesting book is" "Daughters of History - Centennial Memoirs of the Daughters of California Pioneers" published by Berkeley Hills Books, copyright 2000, ISBN:1-893163-31-8. >From the inside dustcover, this book "was written to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the founding of the Daughters of California Pioneers. In this volume, members of the organization have brought to life the stories of sixty of California's earliest settlers and their families as they have been handed down from generation to generation. … told in the words of their descendants - the narratives passed down in oral tradition and preserved in attics and, in some cases, family and local history books." The book includes a good index of surnames, and the surnames are not all hispanic. Some of the names are familiar to me, but there are a lot of new ones. This book covers all of California. Again, I am willing to check the index for surnames, but if the reference is lengthy, I'm afraid I'll need to decline typing up everything. Hope this helps, Anita C. Monterey County
