Ray and Elizabeth: I found a few other items of possible interest to you in the last week. If you do not already have these pages, let me know and I will put them in the mail to you. In the San Luis Obispo County 1900 Census, San Miguel Twp., S.D. 2, E.D. 33, Sheet 5 B, I found Charles Doty, his wife Theresa A., their son Theodore C., and daughter Bessie P. Bessie's age is given as 16, and her month and year of birth as March 1884. Birthplace is listed as California. In the same township, sheet 13, I found Clarence Doty, single, age 26, born in Iowa in 1874. This appears to be Bessie's brother based on other information here regarding the birthplaces of the parents. In the Monterey County 1900 Census, San Antonio Twp., S.D. 2, E.D. 14, Sheet 6, I found the family of Job and Isabella Wood, including their children Webster, Sherman, Ila M., and Joshua. --Sheila P. Hello fellow genealogy list members, "THE SALINAS VALLEY, A History of America's Salad Bowl," written by Burton Anderson and published by Monterey County Historical Society, is now available from the Society at their website at <http://users.dedot.com/mchs/burtonsag.html>. Along with a listing of the table of contents for this book is the following notation: "In order to help genealogists, we have included a detailed index in the book. Those researching family histories will find the following names included (accents omitted) " The book also includes an extensive collection of historic photographs. DISCLOSURE: I am a member of the Board of Directors of Monterey County Historical Society, a non-profit organization. I am also a fourth generation resident of Monterey County. Sales of the above named book will be used to finance the publication of additional county history books. The MCHS Publications Committee recognizes that "genealogists" are primarily interested in information regardng their particular ancestors. For this reason, the Publications Committee has included a complete surname/given name index of this book on their website. Happy Hunting, Anita C. Monterey County

Hello, fellow listers! I'm new to the list and I am hoping someone can do two obiturary lookups for me in Monterey. I'm looking for obits on RUSSELL LORD, died January or 1966 or possibly 1967, and CLEONE LILLIAN (LORD) HENDRIX born 11/7/1921, Akron, Ohio, died Jan. 1/1992 or 1993. I've been told the paper that listed the obit was The Monterey Peninsula Herald but I can't find a newspaper by that exact name. Can anyone help me find these obits? Thanks! Hi List! Happy Thanksgiving! Does anyone on the list know the answer to these two questions (I realize I may not get answers until after the turkey and the pumpkin pie...)? What, and where, are Hoffman's Reports? They seem to have something to do with conveyances? Are there any records for those buried in "potter's field" in Salinas prior to 1900? I have been bounced from the Recorder's Office to the Coroner's Office to the Dept of Public Health and now back to the Coroner's Office. A fellow at the Historical Assoc was going to look on County Hospital records, but never called back, in spite of a couple of follow-up calls. I think, however, that I may have already looked at those records at the local FHC anyway. Any ideas or past experience with this? Thanks so much. Kim
