Hello Ralph and Researchers, Here is the rest of what is written in the Growth of Lake County book about the church. For some years the pastor was housed in the basement of the church building. Later the Sunday School, classes and other gatherings met in the basement. Then the pastors lived in rented houses. Finally in 1951 the congregation provided a manse. Rev. Stafford was the first pastor to occupy the manse. The house belonging to J. and Rosie Frankl stood on what is now F. St. South where the big brick Heryford house now stands. It was moved to G.St. onto a lot adjoining the church property and was made into a manse. William H. Heryford purchased this property from the Frankls in 1889 and the deed was dated July 17, 1889, signed by County Clerk, Will T. Boyd. The next major addition was the Presbyterian Christian Education building which was commenced in 1953 but not completed until several years later. It contained a meeting room, classrooms and a kitchen. In 1961 the chrch celebrated its 50th anniversary. Three of the Charter members were still living. Mrs. Gwendolyn Corbett Snyder was the only one who was present for that occasion. In 1965, the board recommended that replacing the old building was advisable from an economic standpoint. The building was razed and the new sanctuary was constructed on the same site. It was dedicated at services on Palm Sunday, April 7, 1968.
