The baseball club will give a dance at Stewart’s Hall for the benefit of the Cedarville boys who are expected to play ball here Sunday. 91 Years Ago – 1914 THE ORPHEUM Theatre has been sold by R.L. Sloss to Homer Dobbins of Ravendale. Homer will make his home in Alturas and will pitch for the Alturas Tigers…. Herb Stephens is riding a gallon of gas all over the county these days. He prefers to call it a motorcycle. 61 Years Ago – 1944 FIRST Lieutenant Gordon V. Doss of Eagleville was the B24 liberator pilot in the recent Eight AAF invasion bombing Attack on an important railroad bridge near Tours, behind the Nazi lines in France. 31 Years Ago – 1974 THE MOST heated local race has been the Superior Judgeship, where three Alturas attorneys have campaigned vigorously throughout the county. It will take 51 percent of the voters for any of the three candidates to claim a race in the primary. 21 Years Ago - 1984 THE ALTURAS City Council Tuesday night authorized public works director Mick Doss to begin public nuisance abatement procedures for the old Belli Building on Main Street in Alturas. Modoc’s two professional rodeo cowboys, Jim Pratt and Alan Berryessa, have signed up to enter the Warner Mountain Roundup pro-rodeo in Cedarville Saturday. Not much to comment about this week.
