The old pioneer had resided here continously for over forty years, and was, we are informed one of the original locators of the Perkins ranch near Richmond. In his early life, and in fact until incapacitated by the weakness of age, Francis Lanigar was hard working, industrious man of quiet and exemplary habits. We have been furnished with no details of his residence here except through general sources and can not speak with definiteness concerning it. He leaves one daughter, Mrs. Frank Murphy, and two sons, John and Freeman Lanigar to mourn his demise. The funeral sermon was preached in Susanville by the Rev. J.C. Long [Baptist] and the remains were interred in the cemetery at this place. DIED. LANIGAR. - Near Johnstonville, Lassen Co., Cal., September 19, 1899, Francis Lanigar, a native of France, aged 87 years.
