Sheila Patricia 'Trish' Flynn Sheila Patricia "Trish" Flynn of Alturas, passed away unexpectedly at a Redding, CA hospital on Thursday, September 29, 2005. She was born in Burney, CA on April 20, 1952, to Sheila and Everett Flynn. She grew up in Canby, loved to ride horses and graduated from Modoc High with the class of 1970. Trish had made Modoc her home over a 40-year period, interspersed with moves to pursue becoming a Licensed Vocational Nurse in Susanville, while also working full time as a taxi driver there. She had worked as a CNA, held employment at Washoe Medical Center in Reno, NV, and had worked as a secretary. She had also volunteered as a phlebotomist. She was a full-time mother and grandmother. Her "labors of love" were always appreciated, from the freshly baked bread to the crocheted gifts for new babies, family members and friends. She was involved with her church, Modoc Full Gospel Indian Assembly, where she assisted the Pastor in leading Friday night services and Wednesday morning women's Bible study. She enjoyed a trip to Edinborough, Scotland to visit her great-grandmother and accompanied her father on several occasions to his paratrooper reunions. "She was my best friend, the best mother a person could ask for, and a wonderful granny," shared one of her daughters Connie Dixon of Alturas. Her skills as a great listener were very much appreciated by her children and friends She is survived by her two daughters Connie Dixon of Alturas and Melody L. Jones of California Pines, CA; two granddaughters Amanda Davis and Elizabeth Knigge; father Everett Flynn of Canby; brother Melvin Flynn, wife Roxanna and family of Canby; uncles Don Flynn and wife Janette of Cottonwood, Arn Flynn and wife Janette of Reno, NV. She was preceded in death by her mother Sheila Flynn. Visitation was Monday evening at Kerr Mortuary, with services on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 10 a.m., conducted by Pastors Robert Lake and Ed Allen at the Alturas Cemetery. A time of fellowship followed at Alturas Baptist Church. Because Trish and her family had been helped by Hugh Currin House, and the Ronald McDonald House in both Redding and Sacramento, the family suggests memorial donations be directed to either organization. Pauline Charlet Pauline Charlet, a former Alturas resident, passed away May 10, 2005, at the home of her daughter, Sharon, and son-in-law Jim Carpenter in Golden Valley, Arizona. Mrs. Charlet was born July 4, 1917 in Merced, CA to Alta and Paul Dillard. She married Ray (R.F.) Charlet in 1937, and graduated from U.C. Davis in 1938. Pauline and Ray were active with the American Legion, Kiwanis and enjoyed bowling on several leagues in Alturas. After Ray retired from the railroad in 1977, "they decided they didn't need to shovel snow anymore and moved to Arizona," says their daughter Sharon. Ray passed away in 2003. A memorial service was held at the Carpenter home attended by Alan Charlet and family of Ohio, Kathie (Charlet) Hauser of Virginia, Penny (Carpenter) and Jay Richardson of Arizona, Daniel Carpenter of Virginia, Lisa (Carpenter) Johnson of Montana; friends and neighbors.
