Surnames: Houghton Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VW.2ADE/971 Message Board Post: My wife's grandmother, Nancy Moore Houghton, moved from Indian Gulch to Dean Colony about 1886/87 with the hope of raising vegetables, mostly carrots. However, she was unable to get water to her property and eventually gave up and moved back to Indian Gulch. Nancy's son Will Houghton attended the Dean Colony Grammer School and related a story about the schoolmaster there, who they had named the "Od Coyote". Nothing more is known of their experiences there. Of course I am interested in anything you may have about Dean Colony. Only recently have I learned the exact location of Dean Colony and hope to one day drive over there to satisfy my curiosity. Ken
