Reuben is on the 1870 census in both Merced Co. (with "Mad Longmire") and also in Stanislaus Co. (with his children who returned home to Oregon). In 1880, he is in Merced Co. with wife "Magden" and her daughter Sarah Longmire. Then in 1900 "Madura Coyle" is a widow in Merced Co. Thus I am presuming too that they were married between 1870 and 1880 but am unsure as to what county. No one I can find knows when or where he died other than the rumor that he died in central California. I did find a book that said he died in January 1888 but what county I don't know and I don't know if that's correct or not. I'm hoping perhaps Merced or Stanislaus counties or at least that's a start. I'm glad you were able to find Madura. I've looked in the AOL yellow pages and is that Turlock Memorial Park? I was hoping that Reuben would be where ever she was. Oh well. This morning I asked for a look-up for DCT and obit on Madura in Stanislaus and whether there was one for Reuben in Merced or Stanislaus. That's a good idea to try to find one on Sylvester too. However I posted it on the NORCAL mailing list which was probably the wrong place? Guess I'll give it some time and then try the link you gave me if I don't hear anything.
