Sr. Here's what I found.. Alma Merced Express, Merced, CA...Friday Feb. 28, 1896 Death of J.D. McCarthy J.D. McCarthy, one of the most respected and best known residents of the West Side, died at his home three miles southwest of Los Banos, Saturday morning at fifteen minutes past ten o'clock, from progressive paralysis. He had been ailing for several years, during which time he doctored continually and visited health resorts which seemed to do him no good. J.D. McCarthy was a native of Ireland 60 years of age. He has lived at the ranch on which he died, since 1869, and has always borne the name of an honest honorable and upright man. He leaves a son, John D. McCarthy, who is now in Guatamala City, Central America, engaged in railroading. He also leaves two sisters and several nieces in San Francisco. The remains were sent to San Francisco Monday morning and interred in the Holy Cross cemetery. Thus, one by one the old residents pass away by their memory is cherished forever.--- Los Banos Enterprise. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~` Merced Express, Merced, CA...Friday, March 27, 1896 Court Notes.
