Hello, The California Senate Committee on Local Government is undertaking a review of the Public Cemetery District statutes with an eye to reforming the entire law. I will be attending these meetings as an advisor to the Working Group and would like to hear from anyone who has experienced any problems with the way in which some districts may be operating. If you have served on the board of trustees of a public cemetery district and have any suggestions that would assist the districts to function better, please let me know that also. Thank you, Sue Silver, Assistant State Coordinator California Saving Graves Website: www.usgennet.org/usa/ca/state/

I did a search and found that the Merced County Genealogical Society has a book compiled by Betty Padilla called Merced County, California, Early Naturalization Records, 1861-1946. Can someone please see if there is a record of my great-grandfather`s naturalization and, if so, what information exists? William was born on August 4th, 1848, at McGuire`s Bridge, County Fermanaugh, Ireland, and I was always told that he came to America in 1888. If a record exists of his naturalization in 1884, then I must have been mis-informed. Thank you.

I seem to have confused some people. Please read this... Lakeside Cemetery, aka Lakeside Memorial Lawn Cemetery, is located in Folsom, Sacramento County. I would like to hear from ANYONE who has family buried in this cemetery that were buried between 1850 and 1939. I especially would like to hear from people who CANNOT FIND THEIR FAMILY'S GRAVES ANYMORE. If you have "lost" a grave of someone buried at Lakeside Cemetery in Folsom, please contact me off list. This cemetery was also known as the Folsom City Cemetery, the Citizen's Cemetery, and the "City Cemetery." A part of the "Citizen's Cemetery" was also called the "COOK'S CEMETERY" and later the "AMERICAN LEGION CEMETERY." Contained within Lakeside is also the historic JEWISH CEMETERY (est. 1861), the original MASONIC CEMETERY (Est. 1862), the IOOF CEMETERY (Est. 1862) and the NEW MASONIC CEMETERY (Est. 1924). If any of this sounds familiar, and you have family buried in what once was the PUBLIC CEMETERY at Folsom and you haven't been able to find the graves, please contact me.
