Hicks and Margaret McSwain, born circa 1823 in Boone county, MO. James had a sister Susan and a brother Absolom. James married Elizabeth (?) and had Sarah , Dosia, Edward A. and Margaret, all born from about 1838 to 1857. I have the ancestors of both Young E Hicks and Margaret McSwain should you be interested. It is intersting that the Hicks and the relatives of Margaret McSwain all wound up in Merced County, the McSwains from Audrain County, MO.

McCarthy, one of the most respected and best known residents of the West Side, died at his home three miles southwest of Los Banos, Saturday morning at fifteen minutes past ten o'clock, from progressive paralysis. The remains were sent to San Francisco Monday morning and interred in the Holy Cross cemetery.
