The John Griffin who died in 1911 did die in the Mendocino State Hospital (MSH). According to his death certificate he was born in 1841. I'll take another look at it to see where he was born and if there was any next of kin. Usually, those who died in the MSH and were listed as being buried there didn't have much info listed on their death certificates.
