Surnames: Newfield Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/UW.2ADE/1854 Message Board Post: Point Arena Record Point Arena, CA June 4, 1915 Old Timer Passes Away Word was received Monday that Aaron Newfield had passed away at his home in San Francisco Sunday afternoon, May 30, 1915 at 5:30 o'clock. Deceased had been in declining health for some time, vitality being gradually exhausted by the weight of years. Aaron Newfield was born in Germany 80 years ago. He came to Point Arena in the early days and for about thirty years engaged in the mercantile business, retiring twelve years ago and moving to San Francisco. He united with Garcia Lodge, No. 240, I.O.O.F., on July 10, 1884, and remained a consistent member until the end. He was also a member of Arena Encampment, I.O.O.F., and a Mason. Mr. Newfield was identified with the early history of Point Arena, and assisted in its development. He was a big hearted man, generous and kind, and his memory will linger with those who knew him best.
