While Mr. Christiansen had been afflicted with asthma for some time, no thoughts of his demise were in the minds of those who were nearest to him. Mr. Pedar Christiansen was one of the most highly respected pioneers of the Bridgeport section, having settled there in 1872. Pedar Christiansen was born in Denmark in 1854, and at the time of his death was 73 years, 11 months and 13 days old. He arrived in California in 1872, and for many years has been a resident of the south coast, where he was a very successful farmer and dairyman. In 1879 he was united in marriage with Miss Karen Anderson. To this union there were born eleven children, three of whom have passed away. The eight surviving are Mrs. Christina Hincher and Mrs. Anne Beebe of Fort Bragg, Mrs. Marie Goodlove of Portola, Mrs. Elsie Rimmer of Martinez, who was unable to attend the funeral on account of sickness, Iver Christiansen of Oakland, Henry Christiansen, and Martin Christiansen of Point Arena, and Hanse Christiansen of Elk. He leaves also one sister, Mrs. Anne Iversen and one brother, Hans Christiansen of Blithe, besides ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. Christiansen was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a highly respected citizen of the community in which he had made his home so many years. He was a member of Point Arena lodge, No. 8518, Ancient Order of Foresters. The funeral services were held at the home on Sunday, May 6, at 12 o'clock noon, and at the Manchester church at 1 o'clock p.m. Interment was had at the Manchester cemetery under the direction of Cannarr & Cannarr.
