The funeral was held Sunday afternoon and was attended by a large number of relatives as well as many friends who have known him for years. In the passing of Mr. Montgomery another of the sturdy pioneers who opened up the West crosses the Great Divide. He was born in Missouri in 1817 and came to California in 1859. He was actively identified with the early history of the county and was county assessor for two years. There were 11 children, 8 of whom are still living. They are Mrs. Ellen Gibson, Mrs. Frnk Burke, Mrs. J. F. Barbee, Mrs. Al Leper, Mrs. D. M. Lynch, James, Alex and Tom Montgomery.
