He was Dave Russell, born on what was then known as the Kellen ranch in the Orr's Springs section when this county was in its infancy. Mr. Russell became an expert at felling huge redwood trees and a man of strong physique he followed that occupation for the greater part of his lifetime until he retired to his 130 acre property at Comptche. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Russell, Comptche; and his two sons, Archie Russell, San Francisco and Angus Russell, Pepperwood. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services were conducted under the auspices of the Mendocino Masonic lodge with which he had been affiliated for many years. Services were under the direction of the Cannarr-Fairlee Funeral Home and were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday July 8, with members of the lodge acting as bearers.
