Ross (1834-1920) and Jane Ralston (1839-1921). See the following obituary. Fort Bragg Advocate Wednesday, August 26, 1896 Professor D.W. Miller, teacher at the Caspar school, died there August 23, 1896. Born June 7, 1861 in St. Clair County, Illinois, he moved with his family to Missouri at the age of six. After graduation from the Warrensburg (Missouri) Normal School in 1887, he taught school locally before moving to California in 1888 arriving at Fort Bragg in December. He began teaching at the Caspar school in March 1889. On September 4, 1890 he married Lizzie Ross, the oldest daughter of Rev. J.S. Ross. He became principal of the Fort Bragg school in 1891. He went to Alaska in 1895, returning in March of 1896. His parents, Mr. & Mrs. Alex Miller, sisters, Mrs. G.M. Burch & Mrs. W.P. Thornton of Lewis, Missouri, survived.
