M. Phillips at Manchester, mention of which was made in our last issue, on Friday. Deceased had been on this coast for thirty years, and was well and favorably known by a large circle of friends. He was born in Cutler, Maine, fifty-four years ago. He served in the Union army during the civil war, receiving an honorable discharge. The funeral took place Sunday in the presence of a large concourse of people, the remains being laid away in the G. A. R. lot in the Odd Fellows' cemetery, Rev. D. Munro officiating, the few veterans remaining here having charge of the interment. It is believed that a sister of the deceased still lives in Massachusetts, and two cousins - Mrs. G. W. C. Huntley and Mrs. A. C. Jenks - live here.
