Lived in Ukiah for 50 years; moving in 1963. In 1973 he moved to Sonoma where he lived for 31 years. He passed away on December 2, 2004, at Sonoma Valley Hospital at the age of 91. Beloved husband of the late Norma Bartolomei; Loving father of Judith B. Friedman and Gregg Bartolomei; also survived by daughter-in-law Paula Bartolomei and son-in-law Jerry Friedman. Beloved brother of the late Albert and Leo Bartolomei and survived by his brother Dennis Bartolomei and sister-in-law Pat Bartolomei; beloved grandfather of Darla Slagowski, Kip & Kye Bartolomei, grandfather-in-law of Darryl Slagowski, and great-grandfather of Zachary and Brianna Ellsworth. Most of his life was in the hardware business operating his own business in Ukiah (Ernie's Hardware) and later working for Novato Builders Supply in Novato. During World War II he worked in the San Francisco Shipyards as a welder on Navy ships. While living in Ukiah, he was a faithful volunteer fireman for the Ukiah Fire Dept. He had a great sense of humor and loved the bus trips to the Indian Casinos. He will be missed by all who had the opportunity to know him. Donations may be made to your favorite charity.
