Cowles Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday for Warden D. Cowles, 79, who died May 30 in a Ukiah hospital. Mr. Cowles had resided in Willits at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Opal Gallups, since 1958. A native of Arkansas, he was a veteran of WW I, with service in both the Coast Guard and the Army. He was retired from the meat packing business and had also been a music teacher. He is survived by a son, Loren Cowles, and his daughters, Mrs. Gallups and Mrs. Donna Belle Mitchell, all of Willits. The Rev. Cornish Jones of the Ukiah Assembly of God church officiated at the Tuesday services. Burial was in the Willits cemetery.
