Rantala, 74, who died Wednesday, November 21, at his Fort Bragg home. Mr. Rantala was born on the Navarro Ridge and lived in Fort Bragg 70 years. He was a secretary for the Fort Bragg Fire Department for more than 30 years and was a member of Fort Bragg Lodge 361, F&AM. He is survived by his wife Nellie; a daughter, Carol Jewett; his sons, William D. and Norman A. Rantala, all of Fort Bragg; a sister Blanche Hargens, Medford, Ore.; a brother, Dr. Everett Rantala, San Francisco; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services were at the Cannarr-Fairlee Funeral Home with the Reverend Mr. Richard H. Larson officiating. Services were under the auspices of the Masonic Lodge. Burial followed in the Rantala family plot in Rose Memorial Park. Members of the Fort Bragg Fire Department acting as pallbearers were Chief Mero Shafsky, First Assistant Fred Bareni, Second Assistant Louis Ghiossi, Captain Harry Holmes, Lt.
