During the War of 1812 John was pressed into the Army, but after six months, escaped back to NY. Benajah Mallory also returned to NY to fight against the British. John Mallory and his two brothers, Meredith and Ephriam were sons of Meridah Mallory and Mary Barnum, followers of Jemimah Wilkinson, The Public Universal Friend. Meridah died that first harsh winter (1788) and Mary Barnum remarried to Judge John Dow, a vistor at the Friends Settlement.
