M. Hagans The many friends of Wallace M. H. Hagans throughout Mendocino and neighboring counties will learn with much regret of his death, which took place at his home in Ukiah last Saturday afternoon. Deceased had been confined to his bed for almost a week, and had been in poor health for several years. The funeral took place on Tuesday morning from the Masonic Hall, the services being conducted by Abel Lodge, No. 76, F. & A. M., of which he was a member. Despite the stormy weather it was largely attended. Wallace M. Hagans was born in Fulton county, Illinois, in 1837. He came to California in 1851 and settled in Sonoma county. In 1859 he went to Humboldt county and ran a dairy ranch until burned out by Indians in 1862. He went to Montana in the same year and engaged in the butcher business, and remained there until 1872 when he came to Mendocino county, since which time he has been connected in the hotel business with his brother, W. A. Hagan, in Ukiah. Deceased was married to Miss Louise Westbrook in 1875, who died about fourteen months after their marriage. In 1880 he married Miss Georgie Reed, who survives him. During his long residence here he acquired a wide circle of friends by whom he was highly esteemed. He leaves a wife, two brothers, W. A. Hagans, of Ukiah, and E. B. Hagans, of San Francisco, and one sister, Mrs. L. S. Sullivan of Ukiah, to mourn his loss.
