Listers, before you all email me and tell me that I spelled your grandpappys name wrong- The following were taken from the Marriage Index at the Mariposa Hall of Records. This is the beginning of the MALES ALPHA LIST. The Marriage Index book begins with the MALE NAME INDEX then is followed by the FEMALE NAME INDEX. It is my humble opinion that the pages in the index have be rewritten and are not the original. If you have ever seen this book you will know what I mean. The writting in the book appears to be done in marker, not pen nor quill. Three quarters of the page, with dates ranging from 1866 to 1940's are all done in the same hand writing and the same pen. So, this is alot like the kids game "telephone". Someone tried to read the original writing and wrote what they thought they saw, I read the rewritten writing and wrote what I thought I saw ( regardless of the fact that on occasion Carolyn looked over my hands and said " OH! That should be so and so. " ) I have just written what I saw on the index. Also, for those of you who have never seen the actual book, the dates do not always go in order. An 1890 date may be placed after a date of 1989. ( this is good by the way, it means that as new records are found they are being added to the index! ) And sometimes, a set of names are listed twice on one page ( see ANNALA and CORDOVA below ). Lastly, if anyone wants to take this info and place it into a spreadsheet format, PLEASE DO. I don't have the program to do it, I have to type on our old pc and copy it to this one to mail.
