GUEST ANNOUNCEMENT Le Grand Advocate, Friday, August 27, 1926 ELECT GUEST FOR SHERIFF John R. Guest of Merced, candidate for sheriff of Merced County was in Le Grand Thursday interviewing voters and friends in the interests of his candidacy. Mr. Guest was born at Hornitos, Mariposa County, 45 years ago. He was associated with his father in mining and farming for a number of years. In Sept. 1914 he moved to Merced and entered the employ of the Yosemite Valley R. R. until 1920. He then started a General Trucking business of his own, which he has very successfully conducted. Mr. Guest is fraternally affiliated with the Knights of Pythians, the Woodman of the World and the Native Sons of the Golden West. The marriage of Mr. Guest in 1905 united him with Miss Irene Lord, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lord of Merced, Mr. and Mrs. Guest have one son, entering high school. Guest is making his present campaign on a clean cut platform that should appeal to every voter. But it is not the platform that counts most – it is the honesty of purpose, the unselfish devotion to right and indefatigable worker – it is these characteristics which have earned for him the right to the office he seeks.
