Le Grand Advocate, Friday, May 27, 1927 LOCAL ITEMS A Los Angeles firm is having two cars of "Whiterock" quartz shipped from Whiterock on the J. H. Helm place in the foothills, to Los Angeles. They will grind the quartz to a powder and test it for the making of door knobs, bathtubs, dishes etc. If it fills the bill, our well known "Whiterock" will disappear as a landmark. It has given its name to a section of Mariposa County. Located at the edge of the foothills, it stands out prominently and can be seen down on the plains for many miles. -- Thomas and Paulette Hilk 1725 Wildwood Ct.
