As I now have a death year for my great-grandmother NORTH STAR, I am wondering if someone can look for an obituary or death certificate in 1897 Mariposa County. North Star was a fullblood Miwok Indian woman who was the wife of Frank Stahl GOFF, longtime resident of Mariposa County. She may also have been known as "Minnie" GOFF. The information I have from her son Ed GOFF's 1928 Indian Enrollment states that North Star died in 1897 at age 50. She is buried in a private family cemetery so I doubt there is any cemetery record for her. When did the county begin requiring death certificates?
