Carolyn, Don't know if you have these or not. >From the 125th. Commemorative Issue, page 131, FROM "AS IT WAS, 1928" TWENTY MEN DEVELOPING SWEETWATER GOLD MINES F. V. Zichosch who recently purchased the group of claims known as Sweetwater Mines has eighteen more employed at the time. The main tunnel is being reopened, and several thousand tons of ore of excellent value has been already been uncovered. One claim assays at $20.14 per ton. MARIPOSA HIGH HAS LARGEST GRADUATING CLASS Eighteen students received diplomas in the 1928 graduating class, the largest ever to graduate from Mariposa High School: Warren Berken, Maxwell Brice, FORTUNA CAMIN, Eva Calhoun, George Egenhoff, William Godward, Murell Gregory, Hally Hamlin, Gladys Jamlin, Frances Hughes, Esma McNally, Helen Norman, Annette schroeder, Mldred Smith, May McElligott, James Tresidder, Virginia Townsley and Marjrie Walker. (See your aunt went to school with Chriss's grandmother.) Harriet
Hello, I believe my father (Roy William JASTRAM, b. 1915 at Big Creek in Fresno County) attended Mariposa High School around 1930 since his father (William Yost JASTRAM b.1887 in Wisconsin, d. 1953 in Modesto) became a supervisor with the Yosemite Portland Cement Company. My father skipped some grades (I don't know which ones), as was common in those days, graduated from high school at age 16, and went on to Stanford. Any mentions in newspapers or other sources, or any other leads, would be very welcome. Judy Jastram
Hello Judy- The Mariposa Museum and History Center has a collection of the Mariposa Hgh School yearbooks but I do not know all the dates....... Also the Mariposa Gazette films of the era may have the graduates listed in the paper. Judy- Don't know if you hve this resource: you mentioned Yosemite Porland Cement Co so I checked _Memories of El Portal_ by James Law. I see there is a picture of some 1935 students of El Portal Grammar- included is Mary Jo and Marjorie JASTRAM. Also a picture of the 1937 class of El Portal school which includes Mary Jo JASTRAM. Hi Judy, I can check the M.Gazette microfilms for you next week, I've been researching another annual listing and have seen the grad classes listed in the issues. Unless someone posts your answer before hand by Nov 2.
