COX, James GAINES, Andrew GROVE, as a company with equal rights and privileges have discovered on the 7th day of Dec 1850 some quaretz veins of Gold Bearing Quartz compromising each other at right angles about 400 yards east of Bear Breek and two miles South East of COXes Ranch which we claim according to the laws of this state and the laws of the Mariposa Counvention held Quartzburg on the 15th day of June 1850! Pretty exciting stuff!------ Steve handed these to me when I met him for the first time in Mariposa Library last week! What a guy! These records are in the Recorders office.......so folks, when you come to Mariposa be sure you have time on a weekday to spend in the recorders office !
