    2. Hi, all! I'm looking for info on my great grandmother, Juanita FOURNIER, who was born in Mariposa Co. on 2 Jan 1876 or 1877. On her death certificate (5 Jan 1916 - Monterey Co.) it lists only her father as A. Fournier - no mention of her mother. I found an Atonio Fournia on the 1880 Mariposa Census. It's possible that this is Juanita's father. It appears that he could have been living in a mining camp - no mention of family. I was told that it would have been quite common for a man to leave his family in another town because the camps were quite crude. Does anyone know of this family or have access to birth records? Or, perhaps, have information on the mining camps of that time in that area? Any help at all will be greatly appreciated! Candice Henderson, NV

    3. Hi Candace, I've been in the Mariposa Co birth index quite a lot and don't remember a Fournier before 1905, but I can take a look later this week, then I was going to ck the M Gazette on another birth. Here is a little something. Mariposa Gazette April 20, 1918 (personals) Mrs. Sarah Kirby of Salinas, is in Mariposa for a visit with her father, Antone Fournier.
