I took a hike yesterday to the fire look-out tower on WILLIAMS Peak. On the USGS Topo Map there is a WILLIAMS Ranch just below it in Hunters Valley. I assume they are connected. Does anyone know which WILLIAMS established the ranch and when? By the way, I took some pretty good digitals from the tower looking into Yosemite Valley which is about 30 crow miles away if anyone is interested. I also got a nice shot of Fremont Peak above Bear Valley where Jessie Benton FREMONT used to ascend to cool off and camp to get away from the oppressive heat in the summers. Don Rose Mariposa, CA
