    1. [CAMARIPO] Mariposa Hospital Records.
    2. Kelley
    3. Somebody stop me!!!! Without Carolyn beside at the Hall of Records, I just start copying everything!!! Today , in addition to what I went in to get ( second half of the Naturalizations to 1906 ) I bought home the Hospital records 1866 to 1888 Reading these has been a hoot! Not a single woman on the list. The list states : Name, place of birth, date admitted to hospital. Age at admission Reason for admission date dismissed and the reason dismissed. This last entry is interesting as sometimes people actually lived through the hospital experience and were sent to another town. Or the Stockton Mental Hospital or as in the case with most of these men, they were sent on to "boot hill". There is not one familiar name on the list, but if you are missing a death cert for someone between 1866 and 1888 this might me a good place to try. I also got some of those Jury Records Carolyn was speaking of and Jurors for the Election, 1896. Dulcich in Hunters Valley and Prairie in Indian Gulch on those lists. I will send the whole ELECTION Jurors to the list when I get time to type it up. Somebody stop me....................... Melanie

    1. [CAMARIPO] Indian Schedule and map 1905-1906
    2. Sharon
    3. I just opened my mail and received a report by C.E. Kelsey with a schedule of non-reservation Indians in Northern California..but only received the Mariposa Miwoks. Along with this I received a map of California which indicates by location where bands lived and how many were in the band. The information is not as detailed as William's census. It states the husband's name & wife, or the woman's name if only she is head of Indian household. It states how many children live with them and if others lived there ie: grandma. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to do a lookup. Sharon

    2. Please check for Minnie North Star Goff, as I would like to know whether she was still alive in 1905-06. She was apparently alive and living on the homestead with Frank Goff in 1896. He died in 1899. ==================================================== In a message dated 11/2/00 12:31:50 PM Pacific Standard Time, syvonne@earthlink.net writes: > > I just opened my mail and received a report by C.E. 3. Mel, The copy of the naturalization paper came today! It was very interesting. It contained the name, as witness, John Barnett. His son became a pioneer in Madera and just died. Also Angevine Reynolds as Clerk, Mariposa Co.. More history there. I am making a copy for Mrs. George Barnett the daughter-in-law of John Barnett. She will appreciate it too. I owe you lunch and a lot more. One of these days I will make it up there to take you out. Thanks for all the work you are doing. Harriet

    1. [CAMARIPO] MILITARY ROLLS- List of Names
    2. Carolyn Feroben
    3. HI Folks- A great new resource found- the History Center Research Room has a listing of names of persons subject to Military duty as returned by the County Assesor and approved by the Board of Supervisiors. The first year covered is 1872 and it goes through about 1880 (sorry I forgot to check) There is a new index every year or so. I did not do a complete check on each individual name but rather just jotted some of these down- AQUIRE, Pedro 1872, 1874 AUTRAND, THomas 1872 BARCROFT RW 1872 BRANSON, Isaac 1872 CASTAGNETTO, John 1872 CASTAGNETTO, Peter 1872 CASTAGNETTO, James 1872 GORFF, Frank Stahl 1872 COLLINS, Edward 1872 I did not track these folks forward to see when they no longer appeared on the list- if you would like a specific lookup on these names in this index please send me a request- also for the Jury lists previously mention in the GOFF Post- Best, Carolyn

    3. BALTIE - SALLIE Mariposa Gazette, July 1, 1876 MARRIED. – At Mariposa, June 27th, 1876, "Baltie," big Indian Chief of the famous tribe of Chowchillians, to Miss Sallie, a large voluptuous squaw, antecedents not given. This is Captain Baltie's third wife, all bearing the same name. The captain and his former wives have been famous about town for their skill and industry at laundry work. He is pretty well advanced in years, and as the saying goes, "looks like a bar of soap pretty well used up after a hard day's washing," We will not be surprised if this last Sallie does not "cook his goose." Since the above was in type, and ere the honey moon had passed, Baltie prosented [sic] Sallie with a severe flogging, and says she does not compare with his former wives. The promise of another divorce case for the next Court is promising. -- Thomas and Paulette Hilk 1725 Wildwood Ct. Merced, CA. 95340 E-mail address: paulette@elite.net
