Does anyone have the telephone number for the Genealogy Library in Oakhurst (Fresno Flats) I want to call them to find what day would be best to go. Tom -- Thomas & Paulette Hilk 1725 Wildwood CT. Merced, CA. 95340-2624 email: paulette@elite.net
Nothing wrong with my site...I have just removed the Genealogy files of A-Z. I am in the process of making all new genealogy files. I hope you like the new format and it works better. It may take me a few more days to get everything the way I want it and complete research. Sharon

Hello! I am new to this list and I found this posting very interesting. I have begun to do research on my husband's family of Mariposa. He is a Rhoan, related to Maria Lebrado Ydiarte. I have been told that Maria is Chief Tenaya's granddaughter but I have been having a really hard time finding any info on her parents/Tenaya's children. I would love to get my hands on this article and/or any other helpful information anyone would have. Thanks! >From: Sharon <syvonne@earthlink.net> >To: CAMARIPO-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [CAMARIPO] Hogan >Date: Tue, 27 Feb 2001 15:12:21 -0800 > >Amidst a snow storm here, I am browsing through Mariposa Gazette articles >and have come across this puzzle: >Samuel Hogan born 1/1832 Missouri married Mary Ann b 1840 >A Mary Ann appears on the Petition as "Yo-Ne-Pa" >Mary Ann was the sister of Lucy who married John Hite >Lucy's mother, ergo Mary Ann's mother, was also the mother of Maria Lebrado >and a full blood >We know Lucy had a sister called Maressa who nursed John Hite back to >life...is this the same person as Mary Ann? >My question: Who was Mary Ann? >Also...Phoebe Johnson married a Hogan. Amidst a snow storm here, I am browsing through Mariposa Gazette articles and have come across this puzzle: Samuel Hogan born 1/1832 Missouri married Mary Ann b 1840 A Mary Ann appears on the Petition as "Yo-Ne-Pa" Mary Ann was the sister of Lucy who married John Hite Lucy's mother, ergo Mary Ann's mother, was also the mother of Maria Lebrado and a full blood We know Lucy had a sister called Maressa who nursed John Hite back to life...is this the same person as Mary Ann? My question: Who was Mary Ann? Also...Phoebe Johnson married a Hogan. Does anyone know which guy she married?
I know Carole will be interested in this: John Trabucco born 11/20/1863: Parents were Catherine and Francisco Trabucco Born at Soglio, Pian de Ratti, Chiavari, Northern Genoa, Italy 1862: Louis and Eleanore Trabucco and daughter Delida went to Italy for 5 mos along with John and Delida BARSATI, mother of John CASTAGNETTO. 5/5/1892 John and Catherine RAZZETTO married in San Francisco
Hi Sharon, 1862: Louis and Eleanore Trabucco and daughter Delida went to Italy for 5 mos along with John and Delida BARSATI, mother of John CASTAGNETTO. I am trying to place this John Castagnetto in my line. Does the above indicate that Delida BARSATI was previously married to a CASTAGNETTO and was widowed/divorced and remarried a John BARSATI? How else can we interpret that? BARSATI is an unusual name: none on the LDS search, 1 on the SSDI. Weeelllll, another mystery...Thank you for the info! Note below to me from a researcher- If you have anything on the HALFLICH name please let me know- Carolyn ============== Looking for Franklin HAFLICH. He was born about 1825 in Mansfield, Ohio. The father of Franklin Haflich died in 1874. The estate took several years to settle. Franklin signed three acknowledgments that he received his portion of the estate. The first was 10 July 1876 in Sonoma, CA, Sugar Pine 20 June 1877, and 6 May 1879. These were all in his handwriting found in his father's estate bundle. That is all I know of my 3rd great Uncle. I do know of at least 15 people with the Haflich name in Sonoma, CA.

Hi, I checked again and CAROLYN'S reference is all I could find mentioned in the Gazette. As I was looking through the 1880 Gazette last week, I saw the same name (CANTY). I had the same thought...that someone might have misread/miscopied the "n" to a "u". I received a newspaper article from my cousin about a Native American Reconciliation gathering at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds on Feb 24th at 7 pm in the fairgrounds Building "B" at Fairgrounds Road and Highway 49 south. It says events on Saturday and Sunday are open to the public and there is no admission fee. There is also a website at: www.sierrafaithcenter.org and clicking on "Honoring Native Americans" or calling 966-5090 or Doris Taylor of Aglow at 966-4612. It says the purpose of the event is to extend apologies for the atrocities committed by the white man for the last 500 years, to honor the Indian culture and will be attended by many Indian tribes and races. Perhaps if someone goes to this event they can report back to us. I wish I lived closer so I could attend this event. Sharon
Sharon and all, Along with Rootsweb, I find ancestry.com an incredibly valuable source for genealogy data. I love that I can access wonderful databases and now real census from my home instead of ordering microfilms from LDS. I think the price is reasonable. However the past month or so I'm getting real issues with ancestry. I don't know what is going on with them but it seems like their site is not working as much as it is working. I hope they get it straightened out soon. Sharon
Listers, Please note the following information so you won't be wondering what's going on when you can't access things........... "Starting at 8 a.m. PST Friday, February 23, RootsWeb will begin a planned temporary downtime for maintenance of its servers and hosting process. It will limit this downtime as much as possible, and will return with increased performance and reliability for future growth. In the meantime, please take time to visit RootsWeb.com's sister sites -- Ancestry.com and FamilyHistory.com -- where you will find additional tools such as message boards, communities, and databases to help you in the search for your ancestors. Thank you for your patience. --The RootsWeb Staff" Best Regards, Sharon CAMARIPO List step-mom

Ah, but where was Snellingville? Or did they mean Snelling's Ranch, Snelling's, or Snelling, names over the years for the same town on the Merced River? This is the second time I've seen a reference to Snellingville. Cheers, Jim
