Thank You!!!!! Yes, that must be Jesey Paer Allen...who I highly suspect as daddy to my Josie. Wow...you do QUICK work! I personally think New Mexico is an incredibly beautifully state! Whatcha up to and how is everyone? I think the fact that you're back is definitely for the better! Now, about those closets............. Sharon CAMARIPO ListMom
Oh, lookie, I found those indices! 97th cabinet I looked in! Titled Naturalized Citizens The only ALLEN / ALLAN on any of them is: ALLEN, John Henry Great Britian Date if admission July 31, 1867 County Court Page 167 C Now, IF someone tries to find the actual piece of paper on the fiche, there will be little to no more info on it. You might perhaps get the first date of application, but that is just about all. That would just give you an idea of when he was in California. Regarding the hospital records. There are no notes of Native Americans. When a colored man or china man was admitted, that is noted beside his name, other than that, there is just a country or state of birth. Mel
Dear listers, Thank you all so much for checking the Mariposa page for Carolyn and me. Various browsers and versions were used and all saw things without any nonsense going on!! I found it very interesting that those of you with IE 6.0 had no trouble seeing the pictures. I've been fighting with that for over a week now and still can't get them to show on my IE6.0 and had concluded it was merely an issue with 6.0! Must be just *my* 6.0. If you run across anything you think would be of interest on the page, or if there is something you would like to see (within reason!) let us know. We will do our best. Sharon CAMARIPO ListMom

Welcome back Mariposa Mel!! Miss you hanging round the recorders office:-) Those hospital records are wonderful- I didn't remember them being on the microfiche- I have looked at the original register at the History Center Research Room! And Mel, we are family here!! You just don't have any dead realitives here:-) Carolyn Kelley wrote: > Greetings old buddies from the Land of Enchantment aka the land of Entrapment, New Mexico! > > Well, for those of you who remember me, I sort of have been lost to the list for the past 365 days. > > For better or for worse, I am back. > > This morning I located the photocopies I made of the Mariposa Hospital Records. Hi, I have AOL 6.0 running it's customized version of IE 5.5 and when I went to the page I received an "Install on Demand" notice from IE that to view the page correctly I needed to download and install Vector Graphic Rendering. I decided not to do it now and didn't see any graphics or photos on the page at all. I don't know what I was missing :) The "stucco" background appeared. Hope this helps. I'll download the graphic rendering later, it should help. Vicki Woodland Hills, CA
Greetings old buddies from the Land of Enchantment aka the land of Entrapment, New Mexico! Well, for those of you who remember me, I sort of have been lost to the list for the past 365 days. For better or for worse, I am back. This morning I located the photocopies I made of the Mariposa Hospital Records. These records start in late 1865 and end in 1888. Carolyn/Sharon, double check the title of the hospital for me will you, please. The info contained is : Name, date admitted, malady, NATIVITY, death if that is the case, and the biggie is where they say they are going after they leave the hospital. Different years give different info, just depends on the person keeping the records ;-( Of all the records I copied at the recorders office ( over 500 pages ) these are by far and large the poorest quality. If you want a look up, email me off line and I will post the answer on-line. The last names are the hardest to read, so you will get every "Robert" on the logs. Now, on to those hundreds of pages of Naturalizations... ah.. at this moment, they are missing, yes MIA. I am going through every closet in this house and I know I will find them, sooner or later. Sooner would be good. Mariposa seems to be the only county in the US that I have no family, but I love this list the best! melanie kelley albuquerque, nm
Looks terrific -- using Netscape 4.5 **Beverly
We would love it---------Thanks Harriet- We are adding more and more photos to the site------------- The School site is going to be fun to develop= the class lists, the photos of the schools and the kids! Sharon is the one who should receive the photo file-------I am in semi-retirement:-))!! Best, Carolyn Harriet Sturk wrote: > Dear Carolyn & Sharon, > > I have a photo of Greeley School 1800-1892. I just can't figure this out-----------I can view the site perfectly in IE- but I never use IE! But in Netscape the Sherman Institute post card is one big blurry flag- plus many more distortions that I am the only one who seems to see! Stange that the one page on the net that I cannot view properly is the Mariposa Page! Thanks to all of you for your responses I realize now I am the only one with the problem...... Sure we can put the CA flag there! It was there awhile ago- don't recall what happened and why it's not there now- but it will be put back-Thanks for your input Glenn... I am using IE 5.0 and it appears that everything is working fine with one question. Is there supposed to be something (photo or ?) to the left of the listing of links that begins with Surnames? There is a large vacant space on my screen. I would also prefer to have a California flag flying at the masthead along with the American flag. Just my opinion. Glenn Burghardt Oakdale, CA
Here is a nice site------------ http://www2.h-net.msu.edu/~cal/resources/history.html Carolyn
I have the newest IE in my computer I just downloaded it from Microsofts website. Your web page looks great, the small brown letters are a little hard to read against the tan background, but other than that it looks great. I really like the dedication part, that was very nice Chriss ----- Original Message ----- From: <DULCICH6@aol.com> To: <CAMARIPO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, November 06, 2001 9:13 PM Subject: [CAMARIPO] Mariposa GenWeb Page > Dear listers, > Carolyn & I are doing some re-construction on the Mariposa page and > Carolyn is getting a distorted view of the page. Dear listers, Carolyn & I are doing some re-construction on the Mariposa page and Carolyn is getting a distorted view of the page. Duplicates of various pictures bouncing around in a very undisciplined fashion, blobs appearing when they were not invited, some pictures hiding, etc. She is viewing it in Netscape 4.77. I am viewing it in both IE 6.0 and Netscape 4.78 and it appears to be perfectly behaved in both (except the pictures won't show in IE 6.0! But that's a different problem) We would appreciate it if as many of you as possible could please view it (just the main page) and let me know what you are seeing and PLEASE tell me what browser and version you are using to view it. Here is the URL: http://www.cagenweb.com/mariposa/ Thanks for the assist, Sharon CAMARIPO ListMom
Hello, I can view everything just fine -- clear map and flags, colorful graphics, texts, links and photos all just fine, and of course the wonderful old books! I'm using Netscape Navigator 4.76.
