    1. Re: [CALVERT-L] GARY LEE CALVERT & FTM PROBLEM ...
    2. Gary Lee Calvert
    3. Thanks for the help. I got through to the FTM data base and found the solution. I also found I needed to have an update installed. A fix to go to 5.0b foound at URL http://www.familytreemaker.com/support/5gedimp.html You would think after registering the program and being on the mail and email lists that they would send me needed program fix updates. Never seen any so I lost faith in what the FTM program could do for me. I have made George a generations 1 - 6 GEDCOM file for his testing and will be updating the reference numbers to the next couple of generations. I manage to clip out all the superfluous individuals with the new file I created. While the program allows the task to be done I found it available in a round about method that is used. I was using PAF and it was intuitively obvious how to do the needed task. The program should be designed with the goal to serve the user and not the user reading manuals volumes to serve the program IMHO. ;-) I used to be a software programmer. Now retired.... gee it is nice to use that word since I have been struggling for 2 years to get my SS Disability. Now just waiting on the dough. I appreciate the email and posting. It's nice to know there are folks who help each other in the group.
