Both STEAD (abt. 1831) and MOORE (abt. 1838) were born in Yorkshire, England. Their children [all STEAD] are in the 1880 census (found in Ware County (SE) Georgia): Maie (May C) b. 1862 (census says Maine?) Clarene F b. 1864 in Ohio Walter DeCamp (Walter L) b. 1871 in Ohio Acquella (Aquila M) b. 1875 in Ohio Eugene Anson (Ujance A) b. 1876 in Ohio Jessie M b. 1879 in Ohio I do not know STEAD's parents/siblings. Mary Jane MOORE was d/o Joshua MOORE (7/10/1802-1/16/1881) and Elizabeth/Betsy CALVERT (12/23/1801-2/23/1876). Joshua's parents were Thomas and Hannah MOORE and Besty's parents, believe it or not, were also Thomas and Hannah CALVERT. I have approximate birth records for all 4 and death records for all 4. The families were from Birstall Parish, West Riding, Yorkshire. Joshua and Elizabeth/Betsy died in Sibley County, MN. A "spinster aunt" of theirs (I believe on Betsy's side) was Mary BOOTH, also Birstall-born. Mary was born 6/30/1796 and died in Sibley County, MN 2/13/1870. I have the cemetery transcriptions for all 3 in the Aspden Cemetery, Chanhassen, MN. What has me looking here in Butler, besides the marriage record for Samuel and Mary Jane, is that I stumbled across the record of "Booth STEAD" who fought for Ohio in the Civil War for the Union. He was born about 1841 in England, and I found him with wife Mary and 2 daughters living in Reily in 1880. The daughters were recorded as English-born (perhaps a first marriage?) The coincidence of names struck me. I have found a number of references to English-born STEAD, BOOTH and MOORE family members from the 1840-1870 timeframe in Butler County resources, and am trying to establish whether a connection to my families exists. The only other connection I have is that my grandfather, Samuel's grandson, born and raised in Atlanta, GA served his residency at a Cincinatti hospital in the 1930s, and then returned to Georgia.
