    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/WQH.2ACEB/775.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Frank, My Calvert's are from the Georgetown Stamping Ground area also. They are not of Cheroke descent though. Not at least in my direct line. They all Migrated from England then Maryland on to Virginia and at last to Kentucky, then spread all over the country. The name Stamping Ground is not suggestive to Native American's as a people or a native American name. The name Stamping Ground comes from the buffalo that stamped the ground bare in that area. Thus the name Stamping Ground was formed. We also have a Bald Knob area in Franklin County named after the Buffalo also, for eating the tops of the ridges bald. I live in Franklin Co. right next to Scott County where Georgetown is. I would be interested in any information you have. Charisa and I are distant cousins. I will keep and eye open when I get back to the archives for you as well if you send your information.Joyce
